Congratulations to Eric Van Dam (BA, Finance, ’07) on his promotion to Managing Director at Cowen and Company, a publicly traded (NASDAQ: COWN) investment banking firm. Eric was in the first graduating class of FMI Scholars. He began his career in New York as an investment banking analyst at Lehman Brothers/Barclays Capital. After his two-year investment banking program there, he became an associate at the private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners. He then spent another two years at the long/short equity hedge fund, Kingdon Capital. He returned to Michigan in 2013 to join Quarton International, a middle-market investment banking firm that was acquired by Cowen in 2018.
In August 2018 Eric became the first FMI Scholar alum to join the FMI Advisory Board. He has been an active supporter of all things FMI since his graduation, coaching students competing in investment banking competitions, creating podcasts to help students learn about the industry, mentoring students, etc. Best wishes to Eric from all affiliated with the FMI for much continued success!
